Be clever, play cunning, and learn how to play craps the proper way!

Games that use dice and the dice themselves goes back to the Crusades, but current craps is just about 100 years old. Current craps come about from the ancient English game called Hazard. No one knows for certain the ancestry of the game, although Hazard is believed to have been discovered by the Anglo, Sir William of Tyre, sometime in the 12th century. It’s supposed that Sir William’s soldiers bet on Hazard amid a blockade on the fortress Hazarth in 1125 AD. The title Hazard was gotten from the fortification’s name.

Early French colonizers imported the game Hazard to Nova Scotia. In the 1700s, when exiled by the British, the French headed south and settled in southern Louisiana where they at a later time became Cajuns. When they were driven out of Acadia, they brought their favorite game, Hazard, along. The Cajuns modernized the game and made it more mathematically fair. It’s said that the Cajuns changed the title to craps, which is gotten from the term for the losing toss of 2 in the game of Hazard, referred to as "crabs."

From Louisiana, the game extended to the Mississippi riverboats and all over the nation. Most acknowledge the dice builder John H. Winn as the creator of modern craps. In 1907, Winn developed the modern craps layout. He created the Do not Pass line so players could wager on the dice to lose. Afterwords, he established the boxes for Place wagers and added the Big 6, Big 8, and Hardways.
