Be clever, play cunning, and become versed in craps the correct way!

Dice and dice games goes back to the Middle Eastern Crusades, but modern craps is just about a century old. Modern craps evolved from the ancient English game referred to as Hazard. No one absolutely knows the birth of the game, but Hazard is said to have been made up by the Anglo, Sir William of Tyre, around the 12th century. It is supposed that Sir William’s paladins enjoyed Hazard during a blockade on the fortress Hazarth in 1125 AD. The name Hazard was gotten from the fortress’s name.

Early French settlers brought the game Hazard to Nova Scotia. In the 18th century, when displaced by the English, the French headed down south and located sanctuary in southern Louisiana where they after a while became Cajuns. When they were driven out of Acadia, they took their favorite game, Hazard, with them. The Cajuns simplified the game and made it mathematically fair. It is said that the Cajuns adjusted the title to craps, which was acquired from the name of the non-winning throw of two in the game of Hazard, known as "crabs."

From Louisiana, the game migrated to the Mississippi barges and across the country. A great many acknowledge the dice builder John H. Winn as the father of modern craps. In the early 1900s, Winn built the current craps layout. He appended the Do not Pass line so players could bet on the dice to not win. Later, he created the boxes for Place wagers and put in place the Big 6, Big 8, and Hardways.
